Hampton Polyvinyl Plantation Shutters in a Bathroom and Bedroom in Retford

October 20, 2026•2 min read

Some jobs stay with you, and Leanne's home in Retford, a short drive from Lincoln, is one of them. We fitted our Hampton range polyvinyl plantation shutters in her bathroom and bedroom, and she was so pleased with the results that I've been back and forth a number of times since. Here's how it came together, plus a little story from this job that means a lot to me.

A bathroom that's just stunning

Bathrooms need shutters that can cope with steam, and that's exactly what our Hampton range is made for. The polyvinyl panels are waterproof, so they won't warp or crack, and a quick wipe keeps them looking brand new. Tilt the louvres and the room fills with soft daylight while staying completely private.

The bedroom is breathtaking

As lovely as the bathroom is, the bedroom really steals the show. Crisp white shutters run across the whole window, framed by Leanne's curtains and voiles. Open the louvres for the view out, or close them for privacy at the end of the day.

To finish the room off, I recommended one of our partners, Richard from Clarke's Home and Garden, who came in to do the panelling and decorating. Put the two together and the room is something special.

A sign over the fireplace

This job will always stay with me for another reason. At the time, I hadn't spoken to my dad for about ten years. Out of the blue he emailed me, offering an olive branch. He lives on an island in Indonesia, so keeping in touch isn't easy, and I was still deciding whether to reply.

When I first started at Leanne's it was Christmas, and five stockings hung over the fireplace spelling out M-A-L-C. The last one was twisted, so I asked Leanne who Malc was. She said it wasn't anyone, just the initials of the family who live in the house. My dad's name is Malcolm.

I took it as a sign, replied to his email, and we've been in touch pretty much every day since, catching up on the kids' football and everyday life as if nothing had ever happened. It's strange how things work out.
